PERSONAL DEMON
Deriving from the prompt 'BODY SHAPES' - I extended my research to exorcisms and how possessions can distort the body.
The idea transformed into exploring a personal demon; to emulate mental baggage and to involve the wearer in that experience.

CABLES : A SUSTAINABILITY PROJECT
(A 3-day project)
What would happen if electronic components became more valuable than thread? In a dystopia where technological advancements supercede all traditional craft and leave it profitless; a floating tech megacity over a barren planet sprawling with oceans of electronic waste. A class divide. Using this narrative as context - how would one make clothes in the land below?
Knotting, weaving and crochet techniques with cable scraps after stripping them.
dystopia narrative visual mindmap
Is the intention to mock the wealthy, or trying to live like them? A form of rebellion, or a form of imitation?
'insect'
CLOWN
What would you be like as a clown? Would you make jokes or be the joke? A pierrot, or an auguste? Who is your alter ego?
A Forgetful Hoarder.
ASCOT : A PROJECT IN BAD TASTE
What do you consider bad taste? Why? Are you reasons rooted in taught classism? When given a task to create a garment based on your chosen 'thing', how will you progress? Will you learn to love it or remain the same?
A 'taxidermy' of a toy tractor, recreated as fascinator pieces.
From my selection of taxidermies, plimsoles and fascinators - I chose to move on to the theme of Ascot Horse races as the wider picture.
Having worked at Ascot previously, I saw outfits that just seemed obnoxious rather than extravagant; dated not classic; tacky rather than refined. It made it that much more of a drab working there, honestly.
It turns out my selection of items all discuss ideas of wealth - from the ascot dress code changing the visual trajectory of fascinators, to plimsoles being cheap alternatives to tennis shoes.
A TALE TRISTE
Inspired by the lyricism within 4Hero's - 'Loveless'...
A tragic tale of a contemporary Mother Earth and her children, in a battle to which no one wins.
I took inspiration from Shakespearean Tragedy, and how draped the pictures look, which explains why I shot drapes at bird's eye view.
This raises a question... does mother nature have a form? With this, i wanted to stray from the humanoid figure as much as possible.

The 'anacond's grip". A lyric in the song with a hint of equivocation. Along with the literal meaning, it also means a type of gun grip, equating to destruction essentially.
A visualisation.
DINNER TIME
Done during the rotation period of foundation. Specialism: Fine Art. The task was to make anything you want. I did mine on the irrational(?) fear of being followed at night.
...I remember coming home from uni one time, and for some reason had a pit in my stomach, thinking I was being followed. I scared myself so much I ran to my door frantically.
